Words of Wisdom From my Former Students

Chemistry is a very challenging course (far more difficult than your previous science courses) but it can be a lot of fun too.  Here are some words of wisdom from my former students on how to be successful in my class.

Study!!! Even if you haven’t needed to study ever before, it’s really helpful. Also, learn how to study correctly. It’s very important.

Also, keep on top of your work and labs. It’s better to do it at a reasonable pace instead of cramming at the end of the quarter.

Good luck :)

Do your homework!! I can't stress how important that is. I would've gotten higher grades if I had done it more often. Also, make sure to pay attention to all of the lessons, it'll make end of the year studying much easier

Mr.P’s chemistry class was a lot of work, stress (and tears), but was also the funnest class I ever took. Good luck, and study hard, but don’t miss all the fun along the way

Chemistry will be challenging, but never give up. It'll come to times when you just think you will never get it, but don't be afraid to ask questions. The same type of questions will keep repeating they won't just go away, so ask many questions and do not give up. Then, you'll be successful.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND STUDY!!! Ask questions always there are no stupid questions! Stay on top of your work and stay after when you fall behind. Good luck!

Honestly guys my best advice for doing great in chemistry is to STUDY. I know most students are caught up with other classes or they say they have no time to study.. there is always time to study even if it’s just 15 minutes out of your day. If you study, I promise you will do great. Here’s to the stressed out students; don’t stress out. I was always a student who was stressing about grades and stressing about how I’m going to fail a test and trust me, stressing out about it only makes it way worse and helps lose focus on exams. The best thing I found out was to take notes, study the night before, study during an open period, getting rest early instead of being on a electronic device, and coming into the chemistry classroom feeling positive. I hope the upcoming students who are taking chemistry do great!

Mr.Palermo is one of the best teachers I have ever had, he gives you all the resources that you need to succeed all you need to do is put in the work. Always do the ed puzzles they really help if you take notes and try to understand as much as possible before practicing in class. Participate during labs, the regents sometimes could ask questions that require critical thinking and those questions will be easier if you have background and understand labs that you do throughout the year. Always ask questions if you don’t understand something, Mr.P is really good at explaining things in depth and will do so in ways that will help you remember. If you put in the work, this class will be a very positive experience that you will enjoy, I know I did !

Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you don't understand something you're not dumb, it's a foreign concept. Questions helped me get through the year.

I’m one of his students from 2015, haha. But never be afraid to ask questions. If you don’t understand something, ask! There’s no shame in doing it! Even if you don’t ask Mr. P, you can always ask one of your classmates who understands the topic. Sometimes you just need a second perception of something :)

Mr P really was the best teacher I have ever had towards “teaching”, I was first hesitate about the whole ed puzzle but man does it work. You learn that as technology advances, our methods must as well and the ed puzzle was the key. Watch the videos and ask questions, Mr P knows what he’s doing allow his methods to work.

Mr.P was the best teacher. He will always make time and go the extra mile to help you understand what you don’t totally get, as long as you make the effort to let him know what you need extra help with and try to understand it. Make sure to actually watch and do all of the expuzzles, even though they’re annoying, you need to pay attention to them so you can understand what’s going on in class the next day. If you miss them or don’t actually do them and pay attention, you’re gonna be lost and fall behind. Just make sure to do your homework and be present in class.
Good Luck!!

If you don't do your edpuzzles or castle learning you'll be in for a big surprise, so DO THEM but Mr P always has your back with everything like he's had mine so never be afraid to ask questions even if you think it's not worth asking..it could be something that helps you steps forward but if you have an amazing teacher like Mr P you'll pass just study from the first day of school till the day you take the regents

To all new students make sure to take notes when watching a video it helps you retain the information from the video as well as providing condensed notes for the regents down the line. Also make sure you show up to his class and listen you don't want to have to take his class again.

If you’re reading this you now have the best chem teacher in the school so your gonna be fine. If you just do you’re homework and go over the videos before your tests to study you’ll be fine. Also if you have any questions Mr.P will sit and explain to you one on one which really helps if your struggling on a topic. Overall your gonna do great on the regents cause if you just listen to everything he tells you to do you’ll pass
