Water Mixing Temperature Simulation

Instructions

1. Observe the two large beakers. Each contains 200 mL of water at 20°C.
2. Compare the two smaller beakers. Notice that they contain different amounts of water.
3. Predict: Which mixture will result in a higher final temperature?
4. Add each small beaker to a large beaker and compare the final temperatures.

Small Beakers

Small Beaker A
10 mL at 60°C

Small Beaker B
30 mL at 40°C

Large Beakers

Large Beaker A
200 mL at 20°C

Large Beaker B
200 mL at 20°C

Add 10 mL at 60°C

Add 30 mL at 40°C
