Balancing Chemical Reactions Simulation

Balancing Chemical Reactions

Change the coefficients to make the number of each type of atom equal on both sides of the equation.

How to Use This Simulation

Coefficients are the large numbers in front of formulas. They change the number of molecules or formula units.

Subscripts are the small numbers inside formulas. They tell how many atoms are in one molecule or formula unit. Do not change subscripts when balancing.

A reaction is balanced when every atom has the same count on the reactant side and product side.

If the atoms are balanced but the coefficients can all be divided by the same number, the simulation will remind you to reduce the coefficients.
